Barnes Aerospace (Ogden, UT):
Barnes has now started up their new Vacuum Furnace Systems
(VFS) Corporation Vertical External Quench furnace,
Model VEQ-8072-2.
The chamber size is 72” x 72”, and includes
VFS’s GraForm™
curved graphite heating elements, VFS’s exclusive
CompuVac supervisory
control system, and a 2 bar quench system. The furnace is cooled with a
new Dry Coolers, Inc. water cooling system specifically designed for this
furnace.

Bodycote Fremont (Fremont, CA): General Manager, Tom Sandin is
still there, so he
must be doing a good job. (Just kidding Tom - We all know you work hard).
Tom and
his staff are always looking for better ways to serve their customers' needs.

November, 2005
Beaver Heat Treating Corp. (Portland, OR) has received a new,
replacement hot zone for
their 2-bar vacuum furnace from Vacuum Furnace Systems Corporation's West
Coast Sales
and Service Center. A
powered loader has also recently been purchased for this same furnace.
The powered
loader allows Beaver HT to run the full rated capacity of the furnace, thus expanding
their capabilities
for vacuum heat treating work. Beaver's heat treating capabilities include atmosphere,
vacuum hardening, vacuum annealing, vacuum tempering, vacuum/ion nitriding,
induction and carburizing.
November, 2004 Update
Cascade Metallurgical, Inc. (Kent, WA): Cascade Metallurgical, Inc.
nearly doubled their heat treating floor space during the last year.
Did you know

all of the trips to Japan.

Inland Northwest Metallurgical Services, Inc. (Spokane, WA) has
expanded their vacuum heat
treating capabilities with the purchase of a vacuum furnace for rapid turnaround
of small customer lots.
The furnace is capable of vacuum heat treatments under high vacuum at
temperatures up to 2650°F
and with multiple partial pressure gases as well.

Ipsen International (aka Abar Ipsen)
(Rockford, IL) Abar Ipsen and sister company Vacuum
Furnace Systems are joining together for the sales of their equipment by setting
up a joint sales
representative team. Grammer Vacuum Technologies, Inc. a former Abar Ipsen
rep and current
VFS rep will be the new manufacturer's representative in the Pacific
Northwestern region for both
companies. With previous Ipsen representation experience GVT, Inc. will
get off to a running
start. We already know the people and the products.

Met-Tek, Inc. (Clackamas, OR) Owner Jerry Shriner has continued to
invest in the future with
the installation of additional furnace equipment. More on this later.

Nevada Heat Treating (Carson City, NV): Pat McKenna has added
a second, new Abar Ipsen
TurboTreater vacuum furnace to their facility. It is installed in a new
adjacent location that doubles
their original floorspace. Nevade Heat Treating expects a lot of visitors
during the upcoming
Furnaces North America show September 27-28th in neighboring Reno, Nevada.

Stack Metallurgical Services, Inc. (Portland, OR):
With a new emphasis on lean manufacturing
for some of their largest customers, Stack has installed a semi-continuous C.I.
Hayes vacuum heat
treating furnace to process some of their high volume jobs. Also, Steve
Hess, Maintenance Manager
since approx. 900 A.D. will be retiring in the next couple of months. Good
fishing, Steve!

Thermal Processing, Inc. (Salt Lake City, UT) Paul Chacon has
announced the opening of
a new commerical plating and heat treating company in Apodaca, Monterrey, Mexico
this past
year. This 70,000 square foot facility is now fuly approved to ISO 9000
automotive and AS 9100
aerospace standards. Equipment includes several endothermic atmosphere
integral quench
furnace, multiple high volume atmosphere belt furnaces, large aluminum drop
bottom solution
treating and aging ovens and four vacuum heat treating furnaces. The
newest addition is a new
VFS Corp. "Quench-Pro" 12-Bar positive pressure quench vacuum furnace.
